Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) said that eight villages have been earmarked for land acquisition for putting into place the first phase of the sanctioned international airport at Jewar. To acquire the land by invoking section 4 of the Uttar Pradesh Land Acquisition Act 2013, YEIDA needs Rs 330 crores. “We have sent a letter to the state government for making the money available to us without any delay so that we can start the process of acquiring land,” said Arun Vir Singh, CEO, YEIDA. According to YEIDA officials, the proposal for the land acquisition has also been forwarded to the Gautam Budh Nagar district administration. “Four tehsildars, district land officials, will be tasked with handling all procedures for acquiring land in two villages each. One additional tehsildar will assist the Sub Divisional Magistrate in the process,” explained Singh. “In the first phase of the project, 1200 hectares of land has to be acquired across 8 villages. These villages include Runhera, Kishorepur, Mukim Sivara, Dayanatpur, Rohi, Parohi, Ramner and Banwariwaas,” he added. On October 25, UP government had granted an in-principle approval for obtaining a loan of Rs 3000 crores from Central government agency— Housing and Urban Development Corporation Limited (HUDCO)—for establishing International airport at Jewar. Since the airport is to be developed in three phases across 3000 hectares of land. In the first phase of the project about 1250 hectares of land will be required. To acquire this land, YEIDA will require about Rs 3,000 crores.
