2020, WHAT A YEAR IT HAS BEEN! OUR WISHES OF GETTING A BREAK FROM WORK AND MORE FAMILY TIME CAME TRUE, THOUGH NOT IN THE BEST OF WAYS. THE YEAR MARRED WITH LOCKDOWNS AND HOME QUARANTINES TAUGHT US A FEW LESSONS AND IF NOTHING ELSE MADE US MORE CREATIVE, DIGITALLY SMART AND RESOURCEFUL. By: Sapna Srivastava We at Realty+ had just concluded our annual Realty+ Conclave & Excellence Awards East edition in Kolkata that the news of COVID spread like wildfire. March onwards, cities were put under lockdowns and businesses were shut. Caught unawares, our entire team huddled together (online of course) to strategize the next move. Business plans had to be redrawn, working patterns had to be reworked and the publication content had to be revamped. Most of all, the biggest concern was how to cater to our readers, clients and the real estate sector as a whole. THE NEW GAMEPLAN Thus, was born the new game plan – Realty+ Digital Connect. Till now, our focus was the print publication and the events held across six cities of the country. It was time to go digital. We reinvented the existing products and curated new initiatives. We brought into picture already popular Realty+ online channels to get high visibility and real-time engagement. We continued to cater to the needs of the industry by providing latest information and in-depth analyses of the happenings across the sector though digital edition of the Realty+ magazine and digital daily newsletter. We further redefined these products to give visibility to our clients, as this was the time that they needed it the most. Our editorial was completely in sync with the fast paced changes happening across India and the world and their influences on Indian real estate sector. We kept abreast with constantly changing dynamics and brought to our readers the views and opinions of the subject matter experts and leaders of the industry on each and every change occurring during these times. Consecutively, our much awaited and in demand Realty+ Conclave & Excellence Awards events were given a new avatar of Virtual Series that were organized on a customized digital platform for a real life-like experience. This was well received by the industry as it not only gave them a platform to connect with each other in the times of social distancing, but also discuss some of the most pertinent topics of the day. Much appreciated were the Realty+ Awards that kept up the spirits of the realty industry professionals. THE NEED TO CONNECT GREW LOUDER The ways to make meaningful connections became even more apparent as the months passed. Our patrons and even those who were new to us reached out, and we surely so responded. Realty+ created Master class Webinar Series to custom design digital conferences on specific subjects and brought together Indian and international experts together for discussions. We spoke one on one with industry leaders in our Realty+ Real Talk Video interviews series to know their honest opinions, business strategies and outlook on the industry. This was also the time, when we digitally released Realty+ SUPER CXOs - India’s Top 100 Realty Influencers’ Coffee Table Book. It could not have come at a better time than the year 2020 as this was the time, everyone was looking up to the leaders for inspiration. We asked the renowned leaders of realty sector to share their vision and leadership strategies and compiled them as a ready reference for one and all. Not only this, we brought these leaders live to our audience to share their leadership mantras. While this pandemic showed us the flip side of life, it also showed us how to make the best of what you have. Working against all odds, team Realty+ reinvented itself. Our goal posts changed and we boldly positioned Realty+ to thrive in the future. REALTY+ 5 KEY STRATEGIES FOR A BOLD RECOVERY

  1. Emphasis on readers and customers’ changing needs with focused engagement
  2. Building digital experiences through new service offerings
  3. Adopting new strategies to enable business agility
  4. Repositioning to create value for self, peers, readers, clients and the industry
  5. Attention to team’s needs and maintaining a sense of togetherness
KUDOS TO THE TEAM What started off with anxiety has now become a part of our lives. Yes the new normal of working from our respective homes. When we’re in the workplace, casual conversations and interactions happen on a regular basis that also eases the flow of work and decision making. The spontaneous interactions, camaraderie and collaboration seem like distant memories. But, notwithstanding all sorts of disruptions, the team Realty+ has shown that work can be done effectively and efficiently from remote locations. First and foremost, we all as a team were confident of working to our full capacity to accomplish goals even when working from home. Secondly, we leveraged the power of technology for constant communication and to stay in touch. The flexibility to manage work and home was essential for us all during this time. And as a team we kept our focus on objective, timeline and results rather than daily routines. Not to say, we have all come out with flying colours, having endured odd hour workings especially before the events. These difficult times have brought us closer despite the physical distances, we understand each other better in spite of not being in the same room. Year 2020 has taught us many lessons. We are thankful to all who have stood by us in these trying times. Team Realty+ has managed well and has proven to its readers and clientele its mettle. Our achievements speak for us. On a lighter note, this pandemic also brought out our inner chefs, artists, dancers and poets. But, we’ll reveal these hidden talents some other time. As we enter 2021, while we are looking forward to many more achievements and making a difference to the realty sector, we will carry with us the learnings of the year and surely the products that we created in 2020.
