YEIDA Board decides not to sell additional FAR
Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) in its Board meeting has decided not to sell additional Floor Area Ratio (FAR) to developers. The move comes after YEIDA has taken note of complaints of home buyers about developers misusing the facility and putting extra burden on infrastructure in Noida and Greater Noida areas. Presently, the maximum FAR in YEIDA area is 3.5. “The entire YEIDA area has been planned on 3.5 FAR, which is the primary FAR,” said A.N Upadhyay, Additional CEO (ACEO), YEIDA. “If we sell additional FAR to developers, population density increases by almost 20-30%. This extra load on infrastructure including civic amenities could prove to be disastrous and take a toll on a city’s planning and turn it into a slum,” he explained. Officials further said that the decision was also taken after receipt of reports of misuse of developers enhancing FAR without permission in the district. Though the revenue generated through purchasable FAR could be used for development work, but the question of where that money actually goes, how it is spent and when, needs to be addressed, officials said. “Hence, for now, we have decided not to sell additional FAR,” said Prabhat Kumar, Chairman YEIDA and also the Divisional Commissioner of Meerut.
