New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has issued notices to companies, including Reliance Industries and Saab India Technologies, which have their offices in the commercial tower of hotel Le Meridien in Delhi, seeking details of the nature and extent of their occupation of the property. In the notice, the NDMC has asked the companies to furnish information and documents regarding the nature of arrangement of their occupation and date of entry in the premises. The notice also states that companies are expected to furnish information regarding the amount of money paid to CJ International and the receipts issued to them and the terms and conditions of the arrangement on which they claim their subsequent occupation in the premises. NDMC had sealed the commercial tower on Saturday, a day after the Delhi High Court dismissed CJ International’s plea seeking a stay on NDMC’s eviction order. However, on Monday the High Court directed NDMC to de-seal the building following a petition from the occupants of the commercial tower that houses around 90 offices. The court told NDMC to issue notices to the companies and thereafter proceed in accordance with law. NDMC had also cut the water and electricity supply to the commercial tower, which the court had directed to restore. The case over Le Meridien hotel relates to non-payment of dues that NDMC has pegged at Rs 605 crore.
