HC relief for Shapoorji Pallonji in BDD chawls redevelopment bid
The Bombay high court directed the authorities to retrieve the bid documents of Shapoorji Pallonji in the e-tendering process for the redevelopment of Mumbai’s BDD chawls, considered to be one of India’s biggest urban renewal projects. The developer had approached the court after a technical glitch resulted in its bid for one of the BDD chawl projects at Worli, worth Rs 10,600 crore, not being accepted by Mhada despite documents being uploaded. A division bench of justices Anoop Mohta and Bharati Dangre ordered National Informatics Centre (NIC) to make available the technical and financial bids. Mhada was asked to consider it as a “valid bid” and, if it satisfies the technical condition, then it should be allowed to compete with the other bidders - Tata Powers, ACC, and ILFS. “Ultimately, it is the human being who controls technology and when it errs, it is for the human being to rectify it,” the judges observed.
