FIABCI names Farook Mahmood as president
Farook Mahmood, Chairman and Managing Director of Silverline Realty, has been appointed as president of FIABCI. FIABCI is the most representative organisation of the real estate industry in the world and holds special consultative status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations. Mr. Mahmood has defeated Lim Lan Yuan, President-FIABCI East Asia Multinational, by a two-thirds majority. As the world is looking to do business with India and the new RERA Bill expected to give a great impetus to the inflow of foreign funds, Mr. Mahmood’s election will be further instrumental in bringing transparency to global dealings. “The international investors see this Bill as a great opportunity as it protects the investors, so we are hopeful it will come into effect soon. With me being elected, the focus will be on India as the fastest growing economy in the world. The world sees India as the largest, healthy market with a growth stability and technology happening,” said Mr. Mahmood. Farook Mahmood is a graduate in Real Estate Management and started off with the real estate division in his family’s Furniture House Agency. He is also active with the FIABCI World Council of Brokers, and was serving as its Vice-President.
