“We were frontrunners in converting to environment friendly architecture”
In an exclusive interview with Irfan Razack CMD, Prestige Group, who won Themed Project of the Year/ Retail Property of the Year awards from Realty Plus How do you feel after winning the Realty Plus Award? We, at Prestige, are very happy to receive this award and that too, in this particular category, as we believe that sustainable architecture and green buildings are the future of India. We were frontrunners in converting to environment friendly architecture and construction practices. We have a responsibility towards our country and its people – it is not enough to grow, we need to grow responsibly. This award is testimony to our efforts and we hope that others will adopt similar practices for a cleaner and greener India. Has it raised the bar of expectation from you for the future? At Prestige, innovation is a way of life, and we always attempt to bring something new and different into the industry that will create new benchmarks in the field. For us, raising the bar in terms of quality, design and customer service is an ongoing process, and we hope to achieve many more milestones in the coming years. Do you think the jury process was transparent? The Realty Plus Awards have been around for over a decade now and are considered one of the most credible platforms for recognising excellence in the real estate industry. Your jury comprises of stalwarts from the industry and I am sure that they have done a good job of assessing the nominations before arriving at the results. What are the eco-friendly parameters that serve as the USP of the project? Several factors have contributed to making this an eco-friendly project. These include: Water conservation by use of low flow fixtures, Rain water harvesting, treatment and reuse of STP treated water for landscape, flushing, water cooled chillers, renewable energy installations on terrace, glazing with high performance glass, daylight harvesting on all four sides of the building, solid waste management using organic waste convertor, segregation of garbage at source, use of solar lighting, use of motion sensors, occupancy sensors and incorporation into BMS, smart systems, construction waste recycling and including all features that make up the LEED Gold criteria.
