Brendon Chamberlain, Director, Waho talks to Realty+, describing his experience of working in India and the design aspects of the One Mahalaxmi project, jointly developed by Radius Developers and DB Realty. The project is soon to be a part of the iconic Jacob Circle skyline. What aspects of the One Mahalaxmi project will Waho design? We have designed the landscape to be seamless with the building architecture. We have also designed the clubhouse to be integrated with the landscape to maximize the use of space inside and surrounding the club  How has been your experience working on a project in India? We have had an overall good experience in working in India. Clients are very open and willing to accept innovative design ideas in general  What are the challenges you faced while working on the project? In India the design can be fluid right up until issuing GFC drawings (sometimes after this as well!), meaning there can be a lot of revisions but it also allows flexibility of the project to respond to market requirements. Are you looking to work on more projects in India? Yes there are a lot of great projects in India right now both in the private and public sectors  What are the opportunities International architectural firms can look at in India? There are very interesting projects across all sectors, but we feel that some of the best design is presently coming from firms based in India where a sense of place and site context is evident in the final design.
