V P Mahendru, Chairman & Managing Director, Eon Electric, talks about market trends of 2016 and his company’s USP with Realty Plus Tell us about your company and core competencies? Eon Electric Ltd. is one of the well established and leading Indian Electrical Industry manufacturing and marketing a wide variety of innovative electrical products. Ever since its inception many decades back, the company has been deeply committed towards the development of new products and technology that help conserve power. With its presence in markets across India, the company is today synonymous with high quality and innovative products for electrical distribution, energy conservation and high efficiency lighting equipment in India, and overseas. Company’s product portfolio ranges from LED Street Lights, energy efficient LED bulbs, tubes, wires and cables, to energy efficient Fans and Lithium Ion Batteries. What are the latest products offered by your brand? Eon Electric Ltd. specializes in the manufacturing of a wide variety of innovative electrical equipment including LED Street Lights, Wires and Cables, Mobile Accessories etc. at its various state-of-the-art plants in Northern India. In line with the government’s initiative - Domestic Efficient Lighting Programme (DELP), the company is aggressively focusing on the manufacture of energy-efficient electrical products such as LED lamps, fans, high tech li-ion batteries, mobile accessories and energy efficient water heaters as part of its wide product portfolio. What are the market trends for 2016? As the NDA Government revs up its plans to create 100 smart cities, LED lighting systems could lead the way in developing these smart cities across India. LEDs are going to dominate the lighting industry in the forthcoming years owing to their eco-friendly nature and cost effectiveness. 2015 has witnessed government initiatives and consumer awareness programmes towards implementation of the Domestic Efficient Lighting Programme (DELP). The Government has formulated plans to replace traditional power guzzler incandescent bulbs and CFLs with energy-efficient LED lamps. The next five years are expected to witness new innovative technologies for aggressively building up a wide base for use of LED Lights in the residential and commercial segment under the Government Smart City project plans. What is the USP of your company? EON's USP is its consistent thrust on research and development of new and innovative electrical products that brings satisfaction and comfort to the consumers because of their energy efficiency, long life and the convenience with which they replace traditionally used electrical products. What is the target audience for your products? We focus our new products and services to the comfort and satisfaction of Builders, Electrical Contractors, Households, Commercial Offices, large projects and above all the consumers. We are also contributing towards the government’s initiative - Domestic Efficient Lighting Programme. As part of the project, the government has outlined the replacement of incandescent bulbs and CFLs with energy-efficient LED lamps across the country. Eon Electric has secured large contracts for manufacture, supply and installation of LED streetlights in Aligarh, Jodhpur, Varanasi etc. most of which have been satisfactorily completed and handed over to the concerned authorities. These installations are warranted for satisfactory performance for 7 years. What are your future plans? EON is aiming to manufacture and market over Rs 1,000 crore worth of LED lights and energy efficient products within the next two – three years. We have recently secured large government tenders for manufacturing, supply and installation of LED Street Lights across Jodhpur and Aligarh and we are securing more such tenders for the future. We are also planning to add to our existing portfolio of energy-efficient LED lights with automatic controls for switching them of, as and when required. State-of-the-art testing equipment is being installed to test these lights according to various international specifications apart from Indian Standard specifications. What kind of a workplace environment do you strive to create?
