In a major relief to the financially stressed hospitality industry, the Gujarat government has decided to waive off property tax for a year for hotels, restaurants, resorts and water parks. In addition, electricity bill would be charged only for actual units consumed.
In a major relief to the financially stressed hospitality industry, the Gujarat government has decided to waive off property tax for a year for hotels, restaurants, resorts and water parks. In addition, electricity bill would be charged only for actual units consumed. The decision was taken in the core committee meeting on 7th June.Chief Minister Vijay Rupani said that property tax would be waived off from April 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022. This would help the units which suffered severe financial loss last year due to the coronavirus-induced lockdown.These units have also been given relief in electricity charges. The fixed charges in electricity will be waived off and they will have to pay only the bill for actual units consumed. The decision would benefit the hospitality industry in the state which has suffered a huge financial loss during the pandemic.
