Unauthorised construction still rampant in Nilgiris

A division bench of Justice Unauth M Sathyanarayanan and N Seshasayee said, The court made the observations while hearing a plea moved by Faris CM challenging a notice dated October 23 issued by the district administration for alleged building violation caused by the petitioner in constructing a 1,000sqft building for commercial purpose on a piece land owned by him in Gudalur. When the plea came up for hearing, the bench said that on November 7 the court had entertained a PIL seeking direction to the authorities to remove unauthorised constructions put up in the entire Nilgiris district. The bench also pointed out a 2008 division bench order of the court said that it was the duty of the district administration to ensure that the rules laid down by the Act was followed.
