Town planning schemes or local area-based plans will be prepared on a pilot basis in 25 cities, including Pune, as a part of the Smart Cities Mission.
The ministry of housing and urban affairs issued an order in this regard on August 16. About Rs50 crore will be provided to all the cities.
The area for the TPS could range from 50 to 500 hectares. The LAPs will have to be created to enhance public spaces.
All the cities will have to submit a final proposal to the ministry.
