Three years on, only two of 250 homes built under PMAY in Dehradun

After almost three years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi starting the housing for all scheme with an aim to provide homes to every homeless family in the country by 2022, Dehradun municipal corporation has been able to build just two of around 250 homes under the Beneficiary Led Component (BLC) of the scheme.

Under BLC, the Centre provides a monetary assistance of Rs 1.5 lakh and state government Rs 50,000 to a EWS family to either construct a new house or enhance the existing houses on their own land. The identification and all the monetary transfer to the beneficiary family is done by urban local body of the area.
