Thiruvananthapuram civic body announces tax rebate for green constructions

The city corporation has announced tax rebates for constructions made by incorporating green features in the budget for 2019-20. Titled ‘Green Trivandrum’, the project offers relaxation in property tax for buildings which are constructed with eco-friendly features. The council will decide the rate of tax rebate which shall be awarded to constructions. The budget also banks on centre-sponsored schemes to launch environment-friendly projects in the city. Vehicles running on alternative fuels will be introduced in areas around Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple at a cost of Rs 50 lakh. E-auto scheme, which will be launched in the city under the Smart City project, will have a reserved quota for women and transgender people. Transgender people have also been allotted another scheme, which aims at providing accommodation and will function as a development centre. Smart city Thiruvananthapuram limited has already invited tenders for procuring 15 e-autos and 15 e-rickshaws in the city.
