Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has decided to prepare a comprehensive report on the requirement of houses for the homeless in the state. He has come under severe criticism for failing to deliver his promise of 2BHK housing units to those eligible.
While over two lakh 2BHK housing units are under various stages of construction, KCR has asked officials to conduct a survey in all gram panchayats to know the number of families without their own house.
“The idea behind the CM’s decision is to know the number of homeless families, requirement of housing units, extent of land needed to construct them and the number of families that have land but not the economic condition to construct houses,” an official said.
The CM had announced in the Assembly recently that as per initial estimates of the TRS government, eight lakh housing units were required.
