umbai Congress chief Sanjay Nirupam has fired a fresh salvo at Maharashtra Chief Minister DevendraFadnavis. The Mumbai Congress president said CM Fadnavis should intervene in the scams of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). Nirupam slammed the BMC improvements committee headed by the Shiv Sena for rejecting the proposition of the municipal administration to acquire six plots for civic amenities.
The municipal administration presented a proposal to the BMC improvements committee to acquire six plots in Poisar and Goregaon. However, the committee stated that since these areas were encroached, it became difficult to clear them and the BMC would have to pay Rs 260 crore to the owner of the plot for the land which is worth more than Rs 1,000 crore.
Sanjay Nirupam said that of the six plots one is in Goregaon while the remaining five are in Poisar. The Goregaon plot measuring 7,165 sq m is reserved for a garden, a playground and a school. The cost of this plot is Rs 94,61,16,500. Of the five plots in Poisar, one is reserved for a primary and a secondary school, measures 2,181 sq m and costs Rs 18,59,09,351. The second plot is reserved for a municipal school and measures 2,453.31 sq m and costs Rs 29,54,50,549. The third plot in Poisar reserved for a playground measures 1,905.57 sq m and costs Rs 8,05,36,717. The fourth and the fifth plots are reserved for constructing roads. The fourth plot measures 7,170 sq m and costs Rs 41,16,66,800; the fifth plot measures 11,584 sq m and is worth Rs 66,50,97,403.
