The general body of the civic body has approved drafting of the development plan(DP) for the villages with it.
The actual survey of properties and reservations at the ground level for the plan will start soon.
“As part for the process, we must declare the intention of drafting development plan. Once the local self-governing body gives the green signal, the process starts formally,” a senior Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) official said.
Before approving the intention for DP, he said, there are steps such as the green signal from the city improvement committee and the standing committee. A coordinating team to conduct the hearings also has to be formed as well.
Following a state government’s notification in 2015, as many as 11 villages were added to the PMC limits. Uruli Devachi and Phursungi were the two villages that were merged totally, while the rest saw partial merger .
The development plan is important for the villages as it paves way for the development of civic infrastructure such as water supply, drainage system, sports grounds, cultural centres, schools, police stations and vegetable markets are to be built. Over Rs 2,229 crore will spent for these developments.
The state government plans to merge 34 villages in the PMC limits. Twenty-three will be added in later phases.
