The district urban development agency (DUDA) has issued notices to about 200 beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) for allegedly fudging documents to avail the grant.
The agency has given them a fortnight’s time to refund the grant, else it will register FIRs against them, the officials said.
While the beneficiaries who have been served notices are those who allegedly fudged income documents to avail the grant, officials said there are many others who have not yet started construction of units under the housing scheme despite getting the first instalment of Rs 50,000 of the grant.
“So far, we have managed to identify about 200 beneficiaries, but documents of many others are also under the scanner,” said an official of DUDA, which is the nodal agency for giving grants under PMAY.
