To manage vehicle parking concerns that are bound to escalate with urban growth the state government has directed all civic bodies and urban developmentauthorities to include and reserve parking plots in all upcoming town planning schemes, especially near public places.
The government has also directed the urban authorities to ensure that commercial buildings have sufficient parking space so that visitors are not forced to park vehicles on road.
State transport minister and state road safety council chairman, R C Faldu, said, “The council met representatives of all municipal corporations, urban authorities, urban development department, roads and buildings department and all concerned authorities and directed them to reserve parking plots in all major town planning schemes in plots reserved for public amenities.”
Faldu said, “We have also marked lack of underground parking in many commercial buildings and have directed that basement spaces be used for parking.”
