The state government has finally approved an appellate authority for Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority(Maha-Rera) with retired justice Indira Jain as its head. Senior IAS officer SS Sandhu and Sumant Kolhe have been appointed as members administration and judicial respectively.
The tribunal will hear appeals against orders passed by MahaRera.
After the BJP-led Union government notified the Real Estate Regulatory Authority, Maharashtra was the first state to notify and set up the authority on May 1, 2017. Retired additional chief secretary Gautam Chaterjee was made chairman of MahaRera while judge Bhalchandra Kapadnis is the judicial member and another retired additional chief secretary, Vijay Satbir Singh, is the administrative member.
