The city corporation is likely to pitch the provision of imposing tax penalty for apartments which fail to renew fire safety licence every year.
In a meeting held here on Thursday, it was decided that a letter may be sent to state government highlighting the need to ensure a provision for corporation’s intervention in regulating safety measures in high-rise constructions even after the building number is issued.
The corporation will also point out the need to include provisions in existing rules which will empower the civic body to conduct periodic checks to ensure that the owners have not committed permit violations by constructing additional structures in a way compromising fire safety and other security measures.
The fire safety department has recently handed over a list of buildings, both residential and commercial, showing the nature of violations and the buildings which have not renewed fire NoC for years.
