If all goes well, developers will not be booked for negligence or culpable homicide. They will also not face criminal action under the Maharashtra Ownership of Flats Act (MOFA). This was announced by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in a closed-door meeting held with people from different fields on Sunday.
In the meeting which was held by BharatiyaJ anata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah and the Chief Minister, a lot of businessmen and professionals were invited. It was during this meeting that a developer raised the issue of builders being prosecuted under criminal law and that the practice must end.
In response, Fadnavis assured that proposals to end the practices were under consideration and will soon be implemented.
Several members who were present at the meeting confirmed the development. Minister of state for social justice Dilip Kamble, who was also present, confirmed the assurance given by Fadnavis.
