Owners of nearly one lakh residential as well as commercial properties across the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) areas soon may stand to benefit from the civic administration’s gunthewari scheme. Officials have also clarified that proposals for the same will be accepted only from registered architects and building planners.
“The applications will processed online from next week. Work on a dedicated software for the scheme has been completed,” said senior PMC official Yuvraj Deshmukh.
According to civic officials, primary estimates showed that around 1 lakh properties would benefit from the initiative. The city improvement committee (CIC) has paved way for the implementation of the scheme in 34 merged villages, including the 23 villages that were merged in July last year. This may increase the number of beneficiaries.
“The number of actual beneficiaries will depend on various factors. The amount to be paid for regularization will pay a key role in making the people avail the scheme. Higher cost for such initiatives have proved detrimental,” said PMC.
As per the officials, the online submission and cross-verification process will help in detection of fake documents. “Steps have been taken to ensure that only genuine applications are processed. The submission of the form will be done via registered architects. This will avoid entry of touts or agents in the process,” said Mayor Murlidhar Mohol.
According to the officials, applicants might have to pay three times more charges compared to the ready reckoner rates in a given area for getting the proposal approved. In January last year, the state cabinet had extended the date for regularisation of constructions on gunthewari land till December 31, 2020. The previous cut-off was January 1, 2001. The notification regarding it was issued in March last year.
