Maharashtra housing dept approves over 3,500 PMAY houses in PimpriChinchwad

The state housing department passed a resolution on Tuesday, approving the proposal for 3,664 affordable houses under the Pradhan MantriAwasYojana at Charholi, Ravet and Borhadewadi at an estimated cost of Rs 54.96crore.
The Maharashtra Pollution Control Board has given environmental clearance to the projects. A total of 2.5 FSI (floor space index) would be given to the Pradhan MantriAwasYojana (PMAY) projects.
The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (Mhada) is the state-level nodal agency for the implementation of the projects.
Families with a maximum annual income of Rs 3 lakh are eligible for the affordable houses. The central and the state governments would sanction Rs 1.5 lakh and 1 lakh, respectively. The beneficiary would have to pay Rs 5.77 lakh in instalments for a tenement.
The affordable houses would be on lease for 99 years. The tenements, measuring 322sqft, would have solar-powered water heating system, sewage treatment plant, solid waste management and rain water harvesting system.
