Ludhiana civic body survey finds over 7,000 commercial violations

In a recently conducted survey by the building branch of the municipal corporation (MC), it has come to light that there are over 7,000 commercial violations in the entire city. These violations are rampant in areas— under town planning scheme— developed by MC. Once these violations get regularized, then civic body will be able to generate large revenue and its financial crisis can come to end. In the survey report, the officials have mentioned that there are a total of 73 areas under town planning scheme in the industrial town, wherein 7,053 commercial violations are found. As many as 60 areas under the scheme are in Zone D. Hence, maximum violations of around 2,683, are found under Zone D. The officials while sending their report to local bodies department said they will not be able to take any kind of action because the violations are on a large scale. But they sought the department’s nod to recover dues from violators under one-time settlement (OTS) policy.
