Young Indians are migrating within the country in search of quality education and career prospects so they need a place to stay. For a very long time, they were either opting for paying guest accommodation or renting small flats. But none of these options were enough to solve the housing issue because they never got that personal touch when it comes to paying accommodation and renting flats almost burnt their pockets. Interiors play an important role in the living spaces.
“Co-Living spaces are vastly expanding with diverse seating and colours spread all across the common areas. Quirky bookshelves, sharing devices, long-industrial themed tables and step style seaters are the way of go-to in a co-living space. The idea of varied personalities living together requires for it to be welcoming, cozy and open to all. A wide open airy space layered with shades of yellow, parrot green, rani pink and dazzling orange would make it a well, interactive space. The combination of shades and comfort stay accompanied by fresh air and natural lighting with indoor plants would take it up the notch.”Expresses Abraham Santosh, Head Designer, Elegancia.
“With co-living, you need décor that is appealing, comfortable, and easy to maintain. Soft furnishings play a hugely important role here – well-kept drapes and upholstery go a long way towards giving a space a clean, fresh feel, and the right design can make rooms look bigger and more pleasant. Bright colours with accompanying neutral are an easy go-to combination, but stay away from colours that are too light or pale, as they tend to look dirty easily. Turquoise + grey, orange + gold, tan + green are some options that work well. Textured fabrics will add more character to the décor, and also look neater than plain ones over time.”explains AkshayJaipuria, Partner, VAYA Home.
The interior solution providers are trying to understand the needs of the co-living spaces and the people going to live in those spaces. They are trying to understand how well they can provide the solutions to such properties whose business models run on purpose built accommodations. To help with the space giving both luxury and yet be affordable to keep the new generations in mind.
Now both Millennials and Gen Z focus on the interiors of the space along with the location of the area of these co-living spaces. There different spaces, ranging to small rooms, big living area, gaming zone, cinema rooms which would require different décor, a different set up which makes you feel like a home. With different designs and décor comes to the use of upholstery/ drapes that dwell with the room.
"Since Colive primarily caters to the millennials, our properties are fully-amenitized with brightly coloured walls , and are designed to create an ambience of positivity and trust. Beyond functionality and appealing aesthetics, design plays a crucial role in facilitating spontaneous interactions and meaningful relationships among residents. Typically, it takes us about a few weeks to transform a space into a Colive home. Partnering with an interior service provider allows us to reduce the transformation cycle time for properties. Not only the execution is swift, the quality of finishes is far more superior. It's the interior designing companies that help us turn previously mundane spaces into a home that youngsters like, enjoy and feel comfortable in." shares Suresh Rangaranjan - Founder & CEO, Colive.
