Houses for BPL families assured by newly inducted housing minister

Urban Development and Housing Minister U.T. Khader said that he will consider increasing the income criterion to make many below poverty line families eligible for houses in rural areas. During his maiden visit after becoming a minister in the HD Kumaraswamy government, Khader told reporters that his priority will be to provide houses for all poor families. He said the rural housing scheme benefits should also be extended to APL families.Under the scheme, the government provides houses below 700sqft measurement.Mr Khader also holds discussion with Mayors, ZillaPanchayat presidents and other representatives of local bodies. Also Mr.Khader added that he will focus on development of Mangaluru and other cities in the State and he will not do any politics in it.
