The Haryana Real Estate Regulatory Authority (H-Rera), which has received around 1,150 complaints from Gurgaon homebuyers against builders for delays in completion of housing projects, has, in September alone, issued notices to 52 of the builders.
Officials from the authority said their first priority is completion of delayed projects.
Of the 1,150 complaints received in the past year, as many as 950 are regarding projects that have been delayed by at least five years. A majority of these complaints are from around 30,000 homebuyers who are hassled over delay in delivery of their housing projects.
They have been waiting for their dream homes for years, but have ended up paying EMIs on the home loans and rent for their current residences, as their projects have been delayed by apathetic builders.
The regulatory authority has issued notices to 52 builders to complete their documentation and register with H-Rera regarding 70 projects, as well as share detailed status of their ongoing projects in Gurgaon. They have been given time till October-end to respond to the notices. If the responses are considered unsatisfactory, a penalty will be imposed on them.
