Haryana Launches Property Tax Management System

Haryana home and urban local bodies minister Anil Vij said that property tax management scheme had been been implemented in the state to eliminate corruption and bring in transparency. Vij, after launching the scheme and system management, said the presence of unique IDs of property in various cities will restrict the practice of invalid registries and check corrupt malpractices with regard to area and category of properties. He said the department had digitised data pertaining to properties of 40 cities. He added neither the urban local bodies department was aware of the actual use of the property nor the owner of the properties had information regarding the details of the property mentioned in the Municipal Corporation or municipal council, like the details of outstanding tax. “Thus, several times, tax has been demanded arbitrarily or when someone required a no-objection certificate (NOC), the person was apprised of a huge sum of tax payment outstanding against the property. Subsequently, property owners have to make rounds of the office of urban local bodies."
