Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has proposed to spend more than 40% of its budget for financial year 2019-20 on houses and shops, which would include 15 housing projects and 19 development schemes. The DDA budget for 2019-20 along with revised estimates for 2018-2019 was presented on Monday.
The budget expenditure for 2019-20 has been set at Rs 6,968 crore, projecting a growth of 23.3% over revised budget estimates of Rs 5,651 crore for 2018-19.
The estimated expenditure for 2019-20 is expected to be incurred mainly on construction of houses and shops (Rs 3,022 crore), development of land (Rs 2,319 crore), acquisition of land and payment of enhanced compensation (Rs 466 crore) and miscellaneous expenditure (Rs 1,161 crore).
With DDA bringing in the land pooling policy, this could very well be the last budget in which funds have been set aside for land acquisition.
