The MC, on Thursday, issued sealing notices to 14 commercial properties in the city for not paying tax despite being sent recovery notices.
Property owners have been given 15 days to pay tax, failing which their properties will be sealed without notice.
These properties, including shops or booths in Sectors 20, 38 West, 27, 11, 39 and Manimajra, collectively owe more than Rs 4.5 crore. Out of the 14 properties, maximum value of the sealing notice is Rs 2.44 lakh and the lowest is Rs 19,446.
According to tax branch records, the authority sent around 200 sealing notices in different sectors, industrial areas and other places. Of these, most property owners have already deposited their tax money with the MC.
"In the sealing notices sent previously, 100% recovery was made. We hope others who owe tax also pay up," a senior official said.
Since commercial and residential property tax are key sources of revenue for the MC, the tax branch has been focusing on this area. Besides commercial properties, recovery notices are also being sent to owners of residential properties.
