A homebuyer, who was promised a good return if she invested in a project of ALM Infotech City Pvt Ltd and International Land Developers under the builder’s ‘buyback’ scheme, has filed a case against the developer for allegedly cheating her of Rs 38 lakh. An FIR against the company directors was registered on Thursday.
Promila Gupta alleged that a year ago, the builder had advertised for sale of residential units — ILD Grand in Sector 37C. “I was looking for some investment opportunity and contacted the builder. He told me I could consider their ‘buyback scheme’ and purchase a unit,” she said.
Under the ‘buyback’ scheme, the buyer purchases a flat, keeps it for a year and if they want can sell it back to the builder at a premium cost. The woman allegedly paid the builder Rs 38 lakh and the sale agreement was done in March 2018. “I bought unit number 22B measuring 1820 sqft on the 22nd floor of the project. Gupta claimed that even after a year, work on the project did not begin. She approached a local court in June, and after investigation it came to light that the builder had no permission to carry out the construction.
