Builder held for forging Bombay HC orders to usurp trust property

Police have arrested a builder who tried to usurp a property belonging to a charitable trust based on a forged Bombay high court order. Kandivli resident Vinod MurjiSavla (52) has been booked for forgery, breach of trust, using forged documents and criminal conspiracy. Savla is the third person to be arrested in the case. Savla is one of the tenants of the half-acre disputed property in Borivli which has shops, a bungalow and buildings. Police said the plot is reportedly owned by Mathurdas Govardhan Trust. Developer Surendra Shah of Abhishek Enterprises had filed a civil suit in 2002 over a dispute, which is pending in court. A court receiver has been appointed on the property. In 2010, Savla and his associates moved high court seeking directions to permit them to carry out transactions on the property. They claimed the dispute had been settled and also submitted fake documents including a court receiver’s order permitting Savla to carry out transactions on the said property, said an officer. The accused submitted the court receiver’s order dated July 13, 2009, but court receiver G Ketkar has denied issuing any such order. Also, Surendra Shah has stated before the police that the dispute between his firm and Govardhan Trust was still pending in Bombay high court.
