Bareilly Development Authority (BDA) in association with the district administration has launched a special drive to identify commercial establishments flouting safety norms and running without getting their building layout plans approved.
During the course of the drive, which was launched on Thursday, inspections were carried out at four hotels and four private hospitals. The owners of six of these properties were found to be flouting norms and were given two days’ time to produce relevant documents failing which legal action would be initiated against them.
Officials said that the properties that were found flouting norms included hotel AR Palace, hotel National Palace, Ashiana guest house, Saran hospital, Keshlata Cancer hospital and Care hospital. Speaking to TOI, BDA vice chairman Surendra Kumar Pandey said, “A special team has been formed to hold inspections at private hospitals, nursing homes and hotels to ensure compliance with safety norms and building bylaws. So far, eight commercial establishments have been inspected. Of these, the owners/ operators of a hotel and a hospital have produced their respective building plans which were found to be legally approved by the development authority. The violators have been given two days to show us relevant documents filing which we will be starting legal proceedings against them.”
“We got out building plan duly approved by the development authority. Since it was a surprise inspection, we could not produce documents and requested BDA officials to give us a chance to do the same,” said Dr Keshav Agarwal, owner of Care Hospital on Stadium road.
