Affordable housing to change real estate scene

Harsh Patodia, chairman, ICC Expert Committee on Real Estate and Infrastructure and chairman and Managing Director of Unimark Group talked about the big emerging opportunity of affordable housing that can change the face of real estate sector. He also spoke about the rapid growth that the state is achieving which will increase the demand for real estate projects. He was speaking at the Build East Conference organised by Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in Kolkata. Nandu Belani, president CREDAI Bengal & Managing Director, Belani Group said continuous explosion of new technology has changed the way real estate sector did business. He told that speed, quality and timely delivery is now the important mantra of today's real estate sector. He stressed upon the importance of solid waste management for a sustainable eco-friendly environment. Gita Balakrishnan, chairperson, Indian Institute of Architecture — WB Chapter in her brief speech told that architects need to provide solutions suited to the local need. She felt that quality of architects is more important than the quantity that is being produced every year. Tamal Ghosal, member, ICC Expert Committee on Real Estate and Infrastructure & Director, Country Road Resort remarked that the real estate sector is going through a paradigm shift. RERA, GST, Affordable Housing, and Smart Cities — according to him —will bring in a big transformation in the real estate sector.   He also spoke about the innovation in building technologies and real estate finances. He informed for the real estate efficiency has become the key for the builders.
