The three partners of a construction firm arrested on Saturday in connection with a Rs 85-lakh cheating case were granted conditional bail on Tuesday after depositing the money at the police station. The 25th metropolitan magistrate, P K Deshpande, granted cash bail of Rs 30,000 each to Hasir Sakharwala, Hakim Sakharwala and Munaf Wadgama of Gazdar Properties. The defence said they were ready to pay back the money to complainant Mustafa Madraswala.
But advocate Vinay Rathi, appearing for Madraswala, said: "The court granted bail after the advocate for the accused offered to deposit the entire amount, under protest. The court directed that the money be deposited at Byculla police station and to record a panchanama and file a compliance report."
