The Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) has issued notices to the owners of 400 residential and commercial plots, asking them to clear their dues at the earliest or brace for action. Huda has also directed these defaulters to follow the new rules and complete the mandatory 50% of construction on the plots by March 2018.
According to Huda, most of these plots were allotted in the 90s. As per the guidelines, one has to deposit 10% of the price of the plot at the time of submitting application seeking allotment. Once selected through a lottery, the allottee has to deposit 15% of the price within 30 days to get the possession letter. The remaining 75% needs to be deposited within 60 days. But most of these 400-odd allottees have not deposited the remaining 75% even two decades after the allotments.
Those failing to settle their dues within the given deadline will face cancellation of allotment. Sources said there were hundreds of defaulters, who had been allotted plots for residential, commercial, industrial, institutional, social, religious and charitable purposes across the state.
