Taking a step forward in realizing the dream of “Housing for All” CREDAI Maharashtra signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the state government on 18th Feb. Under the same, more than 5 lakh units of homes would be built till 2022 throughout the state, excluding Mumbai. This step will give a major boost to affordable housing in the state, informed Shantilal Kataria, President, CREDAI Maharashtra.
Kataria further said that, “it is a unanimous decision taken by CREDAI members to construct affordable homes in coming 5 years in 50 cities in the state. Out of 5 lakhs units, 3 lakhs units would be constructed in Pune itself. The 3 lakh units in Pune region would include PMC, PCMC, PMRDA and Town Planning area. The approximate size of a housing unit would be 60 sq mt carpet area. The construction and sale would be done by developers only. For the purpose of achieving the success in this ambitious project, we are signing a MoU with the State Government. Under the Pradhan-Mantri Awas Yojana. aprrox Rs. 1 Lakh Crore would be invested in this program, he added.
CREDAI Maharashtra will set up an affordable housing guidance forum, which will play the role of task force to implement this program. The task force will comprise of members from CREDAI Satara- Majid Kachi, CREDAI Akola- Pankaj Kothari, CREDAI Pune- Dilip Mittal while CREDAI National president elect Satish Magar will act as a chief mentor and closely monitor the whole process, informed Kataria.
Through various lectures, seminars, agreement with State Bank of India, transfer of space and guidance about government and judicial procedures will be provided to developers of the city in this regard. Also 24X7 helpline, awards for high performing developers , performance ratings for work, training on construction costing, R & D in construction material technology will be some of the tools that would be undertaken to motivate the developers, Kataria added.
Kataria further said we are hoping that a joint committee of CREDAI Maharashtra and State Govt. should be set up comprising of dedicated officers to facilitate, look into the progress of this ambitious project, so that it is completed within stipulated deadline of 2022 with speedy clearances and priority in government process.
