Japan firm eyes hotel in Plano's booming Legacy project

A high-rise hotel to be operated by a Japan-based firm is in the works for Plano's booming Legacy business park. The 10-story, 250-room hotel is planned on Legacy Drive as part of the redevelopment of J.C. Penney's longtime headquarters. Dallas developer Sam Ware is leading a partnership that's redeveloping the 1.3 million-square-foot Penney headquarters complex and 40 acres of land surrounding the offices. Ware is renovating the 27-year-old Penney offices into spaces for multiple tenants;  tech firm NTT Data has already leased a big block of the former Penney office space.
