China to Build World’s Largest Football Stadium

A new football stadium is being planned to be built in Guangzhou, China, just in time for the 2023 Asian Cup. The $1.7 billion project was proposed by the Evergrande real estate group. Submitted by Shanghai-based American designer Hasan A. Syed at architectural firm Gensler, the new arena is set to become the world’s largest football stadium. In addition to its impressive size, the stadium will also be designed like a colorful lotus flower, in honor of Guangzhou, which is nicknamed the “Flower City”.
