The South-West direction in geography has been embroiled by ambiguity & controversies over time immemorial. Mysterious and ambiguous it has considered mythically as the place of the “demon”. “Nairuthhi kona”- governed by the demon “nairutthi”, it is considered an inauspicious direction for constructing particular sections of a premise as per Vastu. Vastushastra, the metaphysical edifice science of Indian origin is a science of construction that synchronizes balance between human life and nature. The five basic elements (namely space, air, fire, water and earth), the eight directions (namely North, North-East, East, South-East, South, South-West, West, North-West), the electromagnetic and gravitational forces of the Earth, the cosmic energy emanating from the planets as well as the atmosphere & its influence on human life are all taken into consideration in the science of Vastushastra.
Analysing the South-West direction and its defects as per Vastu
South-West direction is the conjunction point or corner of West & South direction. The dominating element is the “Earth” here and as per Vastushastra the intensity of the energy is heavy contributing to stability, leadership, self-confidence and enhances decision-making abilities in an individual. This stable “earth” element lends stability to business; especially financial stability which is a most important factor in business. In case of an industry or office – storage of heavy materials, heavy machinery and the sitting arrangement of the organisational in-charge could be arranged in the South-West direction. In the case of real estate projects, the building should be constructed in the SW direction of the plot.
Vastu defects in the South-West direction
- Variance in heaviness. Either too lightweight or mismatch with requisite of highest heaviness in South-West direction
- No space for in-charge of organization, key person of the department
- Cut in South-West direction (as per Vastushastra shape of premises should be square or rectangular. Removal of some portion for construction purposes causing irregularity, means “cut”)
- Heavy slope in South-West direction
- Presence of water body, especially underground water body like nullah, well, water tank, water pond, septic tank etc
- Encroachment of Air, Fire, Water and Space element in South-West direction
The energy of Earth which is predominant in this direction governs luck, finance, health and stability, any defect in this direction could lead to trouble and problems in one or all of these aspects of life. Combine the same with defects in the “Brahma” region – the central zone, which is 1/9th or 11.2% of your entire premises or plot, and there will be sure-shot disadvantages.
As a Vastu specialist, we have studied over 109 cases comprising of commercial, industrial and real estate; having Vastu defects in the SW direction and the Brahma region simultaneously and have arrived at five major concern areas, in such cases:
Heavy financial losses of blockage – 87% of the cases experienced heavy financial losses or a blockage in their finances
