National Real Estate Development Council (NAREDCO), State Urban Livelihoods Mission (NULM) under Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India, and Government of Jammu & Kashmir has recently signed a tripartite agreement to train and certify 10,000 construction workers in two years on-site. This tripartite agreement will help equip construction workers to upgrade with necessary and industry-relevant skills to ensure quality constructions, enhanced employability, higher wages, and better living. A government-certified skilling program will be a win-win scenario as it will have a multiplier effect in terms of upskilling and reskilling existing labourers, providing better job placement opportunities and employment opportunities for them. Rajan Bandelkar, National President, Naredco, said that “Post Covid- 19, technological advancements are rewriting the rules of skill development in every sphere of real estate industry. The strong push for skill training models in affiliation with Government bodies will enhance the skill set of construction labourers and foster a modern skilling ecosystem in India.” Naredco will be in charge of the overall implementation and achievement of the targets and outcomes. Naredco's on-site skill training programs will ensure better placement of training batches at Naredco's partner sites. Under the development program, it will also ensure an increase in the wages of the beneficiaries.
