Saint-Gobain India Pvt Ltd – Gyproc, market leader in the building construction space for over 3 decades, announces the launch of its first manufacturing facility for ceiling tiles at Jhagadia, Gujarat. Spread across over 21,000 square feet area, the unit is strategically located to service the market of gypsum ceiling tiles across India, helping minimize its carbon footprint and turnaround time for material availability. Commissioned in September 2020, the Ceiling tiles facility in Jhagadia has an annual capacity of 6 million square meters per year with a primary focus on manufacturing their new ranges of ceiling tiles – Gyprex PVC Laminated ceiling tiles & Gyptone Perforated Acoustical Tiles. Gyprex range of ceiling tiles will be available with designs inspired by natural habitats and man-made architectural marvels of the world. This range will meet the increasing need for hygienic spaces coupled with interior materials that are easy to maintain, lightweight, durable, and resistant to environmental factors such as humidity. On the other hand, acoustics stands as one of the primary design consideration while designing any space; Gyptone acoustical ceiling tiles will provide the option to achieve the desired ambient sound levels recommended by architects, design consultants, etc. With this plant, Saint-Gobain India Pvt Ltd – Gyproc also aims to play a crucial part in the Indian Government’s initiative, ‘Make in India’, and reduce the dependence on markets like China to import cheap ceiling tiles. These ‘Made in India’ ceiling tiles ensure easy availability & best in class quality standards, resulting from world-class manufacturing. The ceiling tiles market is traditionally largely dependent on imports, and Saint-Gobain aims to broaden its base in this market along with facilitating investments, fostering innovation & supporting skill development in the country.   Sudeep Kolte, Vice President Sales and Marketing at Saint-Gobain India Pvt. Ltd. - Gyproc, said, “The ceiling tiles market is dominated by Chinese imports, but remains largely unorganized. Through the new plant at Jhagadia, we intend to cater to this large market through our vast dealer network. By manufacturing the Gyprex range in India, we can introduce innovative designs and products to the market faster and at competitive price points. This plant will also manufacture our perforated ceiling tiles range that provides an excellent blend of aesthetics with acoustics. The Jhagadia facility has an annual capacity of 6 million square meters per year to manufacture a wide range of gypsum ceiling tiles comprising Gyprex PVC Laminated tiles as well as Perforated Acoustical tiles. The launch of the Gyprex PVC Laminated ceiling tiles backed through this premium facility will truly be a stepping stone in the ‘Make in India’ movement.” Spaces such as offices, retail shops, common public areas, building hallways, community centers, etc. are exposed to a constant movement of people. This makes it a top priority for them to have interior materials that not only add to the aesthetic value but also are convenient to use and easy to maintain. The Gyprex PVC Laminated ceiling tiles come packaged with features to take care of the factors that the common 2x2 tiles may not offer.  Venkat Subramanian, Managing Director, Saint-Gobain India Pvt. Ltd. – Gyproc, said, “We strongly feel there lies a considerable opportunity in the under-serviced ceiling tiles market due to inconsistent quality imports & stringent policies. Hence, we invested about INR 83 Mn CAPEX in a state of the art production line at the new Jhagadia plant, which is commissioned as per international guidelines to ensure quality standards & consistency. Gyprex ceiling tiles are manufactured with top-notch quality compliance as per EN520 and BS EN 14190 Standard. Together with Gyproc’s brand assurance, these products will help us gain more touchpoints and offer a wider range of products to our existing customers. The Gyptone range of acoustical tiles with unique square and round perforated patterns will strengthen our acoustics proposition in lesser penetrated segments with an aim to provide a complete solution and deliver value.” Saint-Gobain as a group has always believed in local manufacturing and this launch allows us to drive higher manufacturing standards set high product quality benchmarks in an otherwise unorganized market and reduce carbon footprint.
