Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s Uttar Pradesh has given the green light to a Rs 600-crore data centre park project slated to come up in Greater Noida. The Mumbai-based Hiranandani Group is developing the state’s first data centre in an area spread across 20 acres and at a cost of Rs 600 crore, according to reports. The developer first approached the UP government to set up a data centre in the state three weeks back and owing to the size of the proposed investment, it was fast-tracked by the state administration. A government spokesperson quoted in a Times of India report said the Hiranandani group had completed similar projects in Chennai, Mumbai and Hyderabad as well. The state government has received proposals for projects worth Rs 10,000 crore from companies such as Adani Group, RackBank, and Earth Company. CM Adityanath directed the officials to provide land for the high-profile project at the earliest and said the project will generate employment opportunities in the area and give a boost to IT companies that are set to come up in the nearby areas around the data centre. The state government also said it will ensure uninterrupted power supply through the ‘open access scheme’ for the data centre once it's completed. Such data centres are crucial for keeping the country’s data within its borders, it added. Uttar Pradesh has seen increased investor interest off-late, the state even catapulted itself to number two position in Business Reform Action Plan (BARP) 2019-Ease of Doing Business ranking.
