Supertech walks out of maintenance of its Noida society
The developer of Supertech Emrald Court in Sector 93A walked away with it responsibility of maintenance of the society on Tuesday. The residents cried foul as they said that it was not a proper and formal handover. However, the builder said that it had informed the residents about the same about 10 days back. Amit Das, member of Emerald Court Residents Welfare Association (ECORWA), said, “The handover of maintenance entails a former process. The builder had informed us of the handover bid they planned some time back. They had said that with effect from July 31 midnight, they would have no responsibility towards the maintenance of the residential complex. However, there are various factors that come under maintenance, power backup, water supply. This morning we found the maintenance office locked. We are clueless as no formal handover has been done. The financial transfer of maintenance fund of Rs 8 crore also needs to be transferred by the builder to the RWA.” The Noida Authority had last week asked Supertech to hand over the maintenance fund of the 550 apartment complex to its RWA. But the developer said it’s the residents who owe it maintenance charges as many have not paid dues for a long time. “The project was completed in 2009 and the residents subsequently formed their RWA. The maintenance was carried out by us for the past nine years for which due charges were not paid by the RWA regularly on one pretext or the other,” chairman of Supertech Group RK Arora said. “Since the RWA is not willing to pay the dues, it did not want to take over the maintenance. We have given the RWA sufficient time and notice either to pay charges at reasonable rates or to take over maintenance. A notice was given regarding withdrawal of maintenance from August 1. It’s therefore the responsibility of the ECORWA to manage maintenance and facility at the complex and to clear our dues at the earliest,” he added.
