Realtor ‘abducted’ for ransom

A 50-year-old real-estate businessman Pasupuleti Lova Raju was reportedly kidnapped by two persons demanding a ransom of ? 5 lakh. Though Lova Raju was kidnapped on February 15, the incident came to light on Monday, when the relatives of the victim approached the Chodavaram police. Lova Raju is a native of Seethaiahpeta under Butchaiapeta mandal in the district. On February 15, Lova Raju had gone to Rajahmundry for some work and he didn’t return home. Raju’s brother-in-law Ch. Pydikonda on February 18 received a phone call from an anonymous number. The unidentified persons claimed over phone that they had kidnapped Lova Raju and demanded a ransom of ? 5 lakh for his release. The kidnappers asked Pydikonda to come to Chodavaram on February 18 to handover the money. Fearing that Lova Raju may be in danger, Pydikonda arranged around Rs. 2.5 lakh and went to Chodavaram on February 18. Again at Chodavaram, Pydikonda received another call from the kidnappers and was asked to proceed to Govada with the cash. When he was waiting at the designated place in Govada, two persons came on a bike to the spot and posed as one Prakash and Ramesh and asked him to hand over the money.
