The rural development department may extend the deadline to meet the target for the completion of building remaining 1,78,965 houses under Pradhan MantriAwasYojana- Gramin (PMAY-G) from January 31 to March 31. "The deadline for the completion of building the remaining houses under PMAY-G could be extended to March 31. The proposal of extending the deadline is under process. Earlier, the deadline was December 31, then it was extended to January 31 by the central government," said a source at the department. "The government of India fixes a limit for completion of building houses. If you don't meet the deadline, then the entry doesn't take place on 'AwaasSoft' software, which is regularly monitored. So, the government relaxes the limit and keeps extending the deadline," the source added. Out of the sanctioned 6.87 lakh houses under PMAY, around 5.08 lakh houses have been completed so far in the state.
