Land rates in Rajasthan are expected to come down as the newly formed Congress government is mulling a proposal to reduce district lease committee (DLC) rates on priority basis. In a review meeting, Urban Development and Housing (UDH) minister Shanti Dhariwal directed the officials to draft a feasibility report to bring down DLC rates and table it in the state cabinet meeting. Minister said the BJP government in its tenure had increased DLC rates by 40 percent, as a result, land deals in the state came to a grinding halt. Due to high rates, local bodies and development authority could not find buyers for its land when auctions were organised.
