Purandar township gets government's nod
Ahead of the land acquisition for the proposed Purandar airport, the government last week gave land clearance for a 76.08-hectare special integrated township in Purandar taluka. The proposal was cleared after nearly one-and-a-half years. “This is the first such township proposed for the area, which is just 15km from the airport. The integrated township is a new concept at the taluka, and 26 landowners have pooled in land across six plots spread over 76 hectares,’’ stated the town planning official. Minimum 40 hectares of land are required for a township proposal. Town planning officials stated that this is the first such township at the taluka, the others being mainly at Haveli and Mulshi taluka in the district. Of the 33 integrated townships cleared in the state, 20 are from the Pune Metropolitan Region with just one in the municipal corporation area. In the PMR region, the townships have been mainly proposed at Haveli and Mulshi talukas.
