Pune bags 10th position in cleanliness survey
The city climbed three ranks in the Swachh Survekshan (survey) ranking and made it to the list of top 10 clean cities in the country. This is the best performance of the city in the past three years in the cleanliness and sanitation ranking. In 2017, Pune ranked 13 and it was at the 11th place in 2016. The Union ministry of housing and urban affairs announced the rankings for 2018 on Saturday. Pune is among the 20 cities from Maharashtra securing place in the list of 100 clean cities. The government has been ranking the cities on various parameters, including direct observations by the team of surveyors and the progress of the service-level. It had invited feedbacks from citizens and introduced the Swachh app to seek response from people on the cleanliness of cities. The cities were ranked based on their marks out of a total 4,000 as against the last year’s 2,000. Pune secured 3,471 marks to settle at the 10th position.
